We couldn't figure out why our margins were consistently off. Jobs that should have been profitable weren't. After a little digging, we found it: a VLOOKUP formula in our quoting spreadsheet was pulling the wrong work center rates. Thousands of dollars in lost margin because Excel silently grabbed the wrong row.
